In Memory of Andy
Who is Andy?
Andy was born in December 1990, and in March 2014, at the young age of 23, he passed away in his apartment in Huntsville, Texas, from a complication of epilepsy known as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
Andy was a great athlete and had a passion for the game of baseball unlike most players. In 2008 Andy received almost a full ride scholarship to Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, to play as a Navarro Bulldog. However, Andy never got to fulfill his dream of playing college ball due to a torn labrum and his struggles with epilepsy.
After Andy’s baseball career was over, he decided to major in Adaptive Kinesiology at Sam Houston University so he could build a career helping special needs kids achieve their athletic dreams. This is a picture of Andy & Kaleb, an autistic boy who helped Andy dedice what he wanted to do with his life.
This video was created to help with the awareness of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). Most people are unaware that you can die from a seizure (either directly or indirectly). The best way to avoid this is by taking steps to reduce or elimate seizures and understanding what your triggers are.
Andy played basebase for Miracles Baseball Association (among others) for many years. This video was created to help raise money to provide college baseball scholarships to players through the Miracles Baseball Association. This is a much longer video and contains most of what was in the previous video plus a lot more.
After Andy's passing, Miracles renamed this scholarship in Andy's honor.
